NAMASTE, BITCHES.
Llewellyn Lacey Ludlow
Thirty, 5'11, Divination Professor and Hufflepuff HoH
Seer ability passed down from his late grandmother.
Some would say he was born with stars in his eyes, the constellations spinning heavenly round and round in a starry orbit. His parents, however, would disagree. Llewellyn was raised on The Isle of Skye to two loving, yet harshly Catholic parents who firmly believed the enlightened life was best lived in fear of God. Upon his delivery he was baptized like any normal child of God blessed to birthed in His good graces. However, it was soon his parents realized that something was despairingly awry with their perfect little cherubian angel, who even from birth showed formidable signs not only of Wizardry (levitating stuffed animals in his crib), but also suffered abominable night terrors which his parents had perilously diagnosed with the only rational ailment: Clearly, their son was possessed by demons.
Llewellyn was a normal child, albeit shy. He was compelled to undergo compulsory exorcisms done by the local parish. With that being said, as he reached his time of juvenescence he was thoroughly alienated from the rest of his peers. Not only that but his teachers also found themselves frightened of the strange rumors surrounding the lad. They spoke of the things he said in his sleep, the frequent trance-like states that the young boy would on occasion withstand, sometimes going as far as to say things about the residents of their sleepy town. Things that hadn’t happened yet, but once spoken by the youth would surely transpire. They would say he had cursed them, that he was the devil reincarnate. Understandably this was a difficult thing for his parents to struggle against, and eventually they resolved to send their peculiar demon-infested offspring off to an all boys Catholic boarding school called St. Ignatius, thus thrusting what was once their problem onto another’s hands.
Repressing who he was as he might, it did not save him from the wrathful hand of his school teachers, their punishments sometimes heartless. The earliest years of his school career were unpleasant to say the least and relentlessly confusing times for the young wizard grew into his turbulent adolescence, the roots of teenage rebellion beginning to take hold of the subdued youth. It was during this time that his letter from Hogwarts arrived, much to his parents confusion and dismay.
For Llewellyn Hogwarts was a pleasant experience and gently guided the young muggle-born wizard into the world of Wizardry. It was here that the young boy flourished, rather happily at that, though he was the occasional hellion. The further immersed into this broad new terrene he became, the more his preceding faith dwindled. This, however, left a strange feeling of destitution within the teenage boy who, despite having rejected Catholicism, found that he was still indeed a very spiritual and in need of something to fill that ever-growing void. By the time he reached his Seventh year the Hufflepuff had never been more confused about his own existence in the world, which had suddenly seemed to have become paramount. What's more, he had no idea what to do with his life. What he did know was that he couldn’t go back home.
So Llewellyn did exactly what all existentially lost young men and women do: he traveled. Hitchhiking and sometimes walking he made his way across Europe, meeting an array of different men and women on the way. He made money from odd jobs- manual labor, mostly, but he would on occasion put his Seer ability to use despite it having been largely uncultivated and uncontrolled.
He settled in a remote village along the coast of southern India, a place rich with resources and culture. It was with an affluent elder woman named Niyati who offered the young man room and board as well as the occasional meal or two. In return he would do chores and run errands when not picking bananas or herding elephants. It was here that Llewellyn found peace, learning to love the simplicity of hard labor and pure living. He seldom used magic, however, due to the tenants of the village being acutely superstitious- and because of their hospitable nature, he did not want to offend.
It was when he happened upon Niyati one evening upon the terrace mapping the stars, did Llewellyn realize that she was a diviner herself, despite not being of magical personage. Taking a keen interest in her methods Llewellyn studied alongside, watching carefully, eager to learn the purpose and meaning of each symbol, sign, and alignment in the stars. Despite the Wizarding world thinking muggles to be rather primitive, he found her methods both effective and accurate. Through meditation he nurtured his inner eye, bringing forth the natural gift of Seeing and thus strengthening his abilities. Never in his academic life had Llewellyn been so steadfast, but living with Niyati he found purpose, and more importantly, he found his Nirvana.
It was with a heavy heart he left Niyati, his mentor and friend, but she persisted he make good of his talents and share them elsewhere. After several more years of wandering the countryside Llewellyn made his was back to Scotland, his hearth and heart, and settled into the job of a Divination Professor, eager to share his knowledge and understanding with other misguided youth.Reflective of his lush green eyes, Llewellyn is a wizard of a usual impassable peaceful tranquility, a mild mannered young man with humble, but sometimes fluctuating temperament. Lofty and forgetful he rarely makes it on time to anything. Socially, Llewellyn can be talkative and bright, his conversations taking on a labyrinthine quality that can either charm or disengage the other party. Llewellyn’s moods are as discernible as the time of day, the sun and the moon. Often times he is radiantly elated and other times pensively melancholy, depending on what is going on beneath the surface, though he’ll rarely voice his concerns. In temperament Llewellyn remains very young despite nearing middle-age and gets on quite well with his students because of this, acting as both a mentor and a peace-positive role model.
LIKES Scented candles and incense. His comfortable office, reflective of his one time home with Niyati, colorfully decorated with wall hangings, shawls, oriental carpeting and persian pillows. An array of strange fortune telling objects, charts of chakras and astrological alignments. The tower is largely open with a massive bay window on the East with an awning for a small garden in which he grows various herbs and spices as an aid to divining. His office is usually balmy and humid in temperature, charmed to keep out the chilly weather.
Meditation and feeling one with the universe. Llewellyn is a deeply spiritual person and has for the most part removed himself from many of the trivial vanities of every day life. When there is upset within the world it reflects heavily on his character. It's during times of chaos where he will become largely reclusive as an attempt to reestablish his balance.
Llewellyn is social by nature and enjoys engaging his fellow man. Knowing that not everyone agrees with his views he is curious, dreadfully so, to know and understand not only his outlook on life but also the people who surround him. He enjoys deeply intimate and emotional connections with people and feels very fulfilled by these close relationships.
DISLIKES
War and agression, two things he will never truly understand. Despite this, Llewellyn has very little hate in his heart for even the cruelest of people.
